Atheism and Education talktorial, Global Atheist Convention and Atheists in the tav
This week marks the beginning of UASS’ Talktorial events. These events are run fortnightly and feature a guest speaker discussing a topic of interest to club members.
Also, tickets have been released for 2012′s Global Atheist Convention in Melbourne. If you’re interested in the convention, you can find out more at http://www.atheistconvention.org.au. If you’re thinking of going, there are possibly opportunities for going with Perth Atheists members; contact me for more information.
And now, on with the events!
Thursday, August 18th
Atheists in the tav
1PM – 3PM, UWA Tav
Come join us for a sit down and perhaps a drink (alcoholic this time) as we ponder the indecipherable mysteries of the universe, or not.
This event is unfortunately only open to people over the legal drinking age.
Friday, August 19th
Talktorial: Atheism and Education
2PM – 4PM, Law Lecture Theatre (1.06) – Law Building
(The Law Building is near Oak Lawn, the Guild Village. The Law Lecture Theatre is on the first floor.)
What happens to religious faith as education level goes up?
Conventional wisdom says religiosity goes down, but a new study suggests that well-educated people are more religious.
Daniel Midgley cuts through the confusion.
To make sure as many people as possible can attend future events, drop by http://uass.asn.au/cgi-bin/timetable/ and tick the boxes for times that you CAN’T attend an event.
We’ll use this information to work out the best times for events this semester.
Stay tuned for more events this semester. If you join our Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/groups/uwaass/), you can get automatic invites to club events!
See you soon!
